How much will it cost to hire an attorney for my Florida personal injury case?
To hire an attorney doesn’t cost you anything. All of the personal injury plaintiff’s attorneys that I know work on a contingency fee. In other words, they don’t get paid unless you get paid. It’s pretty much standard in the community that if a case is settled without a lawsuit, that the attorney charges 33-1/3%. Sometimes that can be reduced down if, in fact, there’s limited insurance, and there’s medical bills. Most attorneys I know will adjust their fee. If a lawsuit has to be filed, that fee is then 40%.
