What are some common causes of brain injuries?
The most common cause of brain injuries is trauma to the brain. And that can be in the form of a sudden acceleration and deceleration of your head. And that creates an injury that doctors call coup and contrecoup, which essentially means that your brain goes forward very rapidly and then it comes back. And what it does is tear some of the connective tissue or the tissue where your brain uses to communicate and relay information to other parts of the brain.
There can be other causes. Stroke, medication, those type of things. But generally speaking, what we see is mostly trauma to the brain manifest itself in what most people call a concussion.
