What happens if the other driver involved in the accident is not insured or has minimal coverage?

Abbott Law Group, P.A. > Frequently Asked Questions  > Car Accidents FAQs > What happens if the other driver involved in the accident is not insured or has minimal coverage?

Let’s start with the last part of that, minimal coverage to us is about $10,000, that’s the minimal amount of liability insurance. So if you’re hospitalized or have a serious injury, that coverage is going to be minimal and you’re going to need to have UM coverage. You can collect that minimal coverage, a lawyer can for you pretty quickly and also then if you have uninsured motorist coverage, he will wait or until you’re at maximum medical improvement and then he can collect that insurance also, assuming that your injury is serious.
