RMH Franchise Holdings (“RMH”) owned Applebee’s restaurants have been hit by the malware on point-of-sale (PoS) systems according to RHM notice of data incident.
The malware was designed to capture payment card information and may have affected a limited number of purchases made at RMH-owned Applebee’s restaurants. payment made online were not affected by this incident.
The malware was present on PoS systems in majority of cases between December 6, 2017 and January 2, 2018. But in some restaurants also since November 23 or December 5, 2017.
According to the notice of incident, more than 160 restaurants have been affected in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wyoming.
