2017 Florida Justice Association Workhorse Seminar
Recently, attorneys from the Abbott Law Group attended the 2017 Florida Justice Association Workhorse Seminar in Orlando, Florida. The Florida Justice Association (FJA), formerly the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (AFTL), is dedicated to strengthening and upholding Florida’s civil justice system and protecting the rights of Florida’s citizens and consumers. The annual Workhorse Seminar ensures that lawyers receive multiple CLE credits, gain innovative ideas, and boosts the quality of their practice by enhancing their knowledge of current issues, which occur in every day civil litigation cases.
Steven Teppler was a moderator for two of the discussions on topics regarding E-discovery issues and training. Brittany Ford was among the members of the featured discussion panel. During his presentation, Mr. Teppler provided attendees with an overview of the current state of E-discovery practice in both Florida state and federal courts. Furthermore, Mr. Teppler gave out sample forms and other valuable tools for practitioners to succeed in their own attempts at E-discovery.
In addition, F. Catfish Abbott and Steven Teppler were placed on a panel to share their thoughts and knowledge about Electronic Health/Medical Records and the importance of retrieving these documents in a timely manner. Attendees learned new methods for obtaining information regarding the electronic medical records and how to navigate these requests.
Overall, the conference was beneficial for the growth of our firm. It allowed us to gain a better understanding of the current legal environment and it let us contribute our knowledge about the ways technology is impacting the daily lives of fellow attorneys. Also, this event strengthened the relationships our attorneys share with other leading firms.
